There are more car associations out there than ever before. See below for help determining which ones are for you.

AA member benefits are numerous including breakdown assistance, replacement cars (available with more expensive packages), discounts on accommodation and travel (not just in the UK but in Europe and North America) and much more.

Perhaps one of the best benefits - available to members and non-members alike - is the fabulous AA website. This site contains information on every aspect of buying, selling and driving a car. You can get quotes for insurance online and loan quotes by telephone.

As of May 2009 membership in the AA ranges from £27 to nearly £207 depending on the type of plan you choose and the number of vehicles/drivers to be covered.

RAC shouldn't be confused with the Royal Automobile Club. RAC Motoring Services was bought by Lex Service PLC and as such doesn't have any formal connection with the previous owners - the Royal Automobile Club. However, the association offers a lot of great features, products and services.

The RAC offers breakdown cover (on which you can save substantially if you buy online), stolen vehicle recovery services, travel services, legal services and much more. Check out the website for information on all these products and for interesting and helpful articles on a variety of topics such as mobiles and driving and congestion charging. The site also has a search feature that allows you to quickly locate information on your topic of interest.
